Corn Hill Neighbors Association

Once known as the Third Ward, Corn Hill is a showplace of historic architecture, manicured streets and inviting parks. The mission of the Corn Hill Neighbor’s Association is to protect and promote the residential and historical character and beauty of the area; to assist government agencies in addressing issues impacting the community; to promote and encourage neighborhood diversity and inclusiveness; and to foster good will and friendship between and among the residents of the area and surrounding areas for the general welfare and good of the community. In particular, the members of Beautification Committee are involved in every aspect of creating and maintaining Corn Hill’s inviting public spaces.

The Friends of Mount Hope Cemetery

Friends of Mount Hope Cemetery is a non-profit organization of volunteers founded in 1980 to restore, preserve, and encourage public use and enjoyment of this unique historical treasure. We have a wealth of resources available to help you learn about our community as reflected in the lives of those who chose Mount Hope Cemetery as their final resting place.

Friends and Neighbors of Seneca Park

Established in the late 1990’s to stop the Monroe County Parks Department plan to use the south end of the lower park for additional zoo parking, the small organization grew with the help of League of Women Voters of New York State, the advocacy of residents of the city and the suburbs, and some members of the Monroe County Legislature.  All of these park/Olmsted advocates persuaded the MCPD to abandon that plan and thus today the lower park remains the most true to FLO’s design. The Friends and Neighbors of Seneca Park joined the Olmsted Parks Alliance and remains in that group to this day.

Friends of Washington Grove

The Friends of Washington Grove, Inc. helps manage Washington Grove, a park owned by the City of Rochester. We encourage its sustainable use as an old growth forest, we inform park visitors and the community about the ecology and history of this valuable resource, work to remove invasive species, and plant and encourage the growth of native species.

Highland Park Conservancy

The Highland Park Conservancy is an all volunteer, member supported, not-for-profit organization. We share the authentic story of Highland Park to inspire and ensure its preservation as a signature public space for the enjoyment of all. We advocate for and participate in the preservation, restoration and enhancement of the entire Highland Park with its world class arboretum, its historic Olmsted design and other amenities by increasing the public’s appreciation for and active engagement with its absolute uniqueness.

Landmark Society

The Landmark Society of Western New York, Inc., is one of the nation’s oldest and most active historic preservation organizations. It is a not-for-profit membership organization dedicated to helping our region’s communities preserve and capitalize on their rich architectural, historical, and cultural heritage. The Landmark Society’s service area covers nine counties in western New York centered on the City of Rochester.

Lower Falls Foundation

The Lower Falls Foundation was founded in 2016 to champion the neighborhoods within a one-mile radius of the Lower Falls on the Genesee River.

This portion of the City of Rochester contains two Olmsted-designed parks—Maplewood Park (formerly Seneca Park West) and Seneca Park East. We are proud that this park is one of only three parks in Olmsted’s portfolio which was designed around amazingly wonderful natural waterfalls. The other two Olmsted parks built around natural waterfalls are Yosemite and Niagara Falls.

An extension of natural parkland was added by the City of Rochester immediately south of Maplewood Park in the 1970s. The Lower Falls Park is adjacent to the Lower Falls and offers beautiful views of the sedimentary rocks in the gorge and green spaces for walking and relaxing above the Genesee River. An outdoor sculpture, The Seat of Forgetting and Remembering, was added in 2001.

The Genesee Riverway Trail allows hiking and bicycling through this area to reach Lake Ontario.

Building on the amazing history of the nearby neighborhoods, we are working to create a community of excellence in the neighborhoods adjacent to the Lower Falls and to work for greater respect and prosperity for the future.

Maplewood Neighborhood Association

The Maplewood Neighborhood Association is an all volunteer, member supported organization representing the area of the City of Rochester from  Olmsted’s Maplewood Park on the Genesee River, west to the city line.  Our goal is to plan for our community as a diverse and vibrant neighborhood, celebrate the strengths and creativity of the residents, encourage home ownership and the residential character of the neighborhood, and represent our interests in decisions that affect our neighborhood.

The Parkside Neighborhood Association

The PNA, established to bring the neighborhood bordering Seneca Park together in order to speak with one voice on neighborhood issues, is passionate about the preservation of our oldest neighbor Seneca Park and is happy to support the Olmsted Parks Alliance in its efforts towards education about and preservation of Seneca Park.

Washington Square Community Association

The Washington Square Community Association is a not-for-profit organization based around one of our City’s first, formally defined Squares in downtown Rochester, NY. Made up of an all-volunteer Board that includes a mix of civic-minded residents and area business leaders, we seek to create a community of businesses (both large & small), residents, and visitors who work together to create and maintain a peaceful, safe, and desirable environment for all to work, live, and play
